Going to Baguio ( Travelogue)

Around August 2022 me and my grandma decided to go to Manila for my birthday. It was quite late at night when we arrived at manila but good thing there was an old student of my grandma that i picked us up from the airport and we stayed at their place for one night.  The next morning after having our breakfast and saying our goodbyes we pack our stuff to go to my grandmas friends house. As we were going to the terminal, there were a lot of people and trash everywhere. Ive been to manila plenty of times but i still cant get used to the environment there, i still really prefer Iloilo.  When we arrived at my grandmas friends house, her house was like a building, it had 3 floors and a rooftop. Though what ive noticed is that most houses in manila are like buildings, probably because manila isnt very spacious so they can only settle for building like houses.  After unpacking our stuff and only putting some items that were neccessary, we waited until the evening because we...

My first event ( True Narrative)

It was on December 2022 that I went to my very first cosplay event. I didn't know there were cosplays events being held here in Iloilo and when I found out I was really really excited since I was a huge fan of animes ever since I was kid. So when my best friend asked me to go with her to the event I just knew I had to go with her.  At first my grandmother was against me going because I have an upcoming exam the next day but i kept on begging and begging to go, promising that ill still study well and get a good score at my exam. Eventually she gave in and allowed me to go to the event.  The next I woke up early to get ready. I picked an outfit and put some make up on. And I was ready to head outside. After riding a few jeeps I finally arrived at my destination. The event was being held at Sm and it didn't take long for me to get there.  The more I got near inside the mall the more rush and excitement I felt. After entering the mall I first waited for my best friend. ...

Entry on Anne Frank

The first chapter of Anne Frank's diary depicts the daily life of the Frank family in Amsterdam, introducing her family members and their dynamics. Through Anne's observations, we see her yearning for love, acceptance, and freedom as she navigates the challenges of adolescence and family relationships. In Nazi-occupied Amsterdam, Jewish families like the Franks face persecution. Anne Frank's narrative discusses escalating anti-Jewish measures imposed by the Nazis, including wearing the yellow star and restrictions on Jewish businesses. Despite mounting tensions, Anne initially struggles with disbelief, hoping the storm clouds of war will soon pass. In the midst of fear and uncertainty, Anne demonstrates resilience and hope through her words. Her optimism and indomitable spirit shine through, offering a beacon of light in dark times. Despite external constraints, Anne finds solace in her inner world, using her diary as a sanctuary for self-expression and introspection. Anne...

A letter to father

Dear papa, When I was a kid to me you were the best dad a kid could have. You would take me out on dates, surprise me by buying me gifts or taking me to arcades, and you would take me to fares. You were the best! I had memories of us that I would never forget. There was a festival at Lapaz plaza and there were a fare. There was games and rides. And after your job you would take me there. We would play at the playground for a bit then we would ride the Ferris wheel after that we would buy linaga and eat and we would go home. Or when we used to live together I would wait for you to go home from work even if it was late. When you get home you would cook us corn beef and we would eat together while watching tv. Those were the most fond memories I had with you.  Then you and mom seperated. You changed. You weren't the same dad anymore. You were more angry, distant and it made me question, do you still love me?  You weren't there anymore, as if the dad I had when I was young d...

A letter to mother

Dear mama,  I don't know where to start this letter, should I start with my fond memories of us together? Or the one where I felt like I was being abandoned? I'm well aware about the fact that you had me at a young age. You weren't ready for the responsibility of being a mother, you were just 20 when you had me. You should have enjoyed your life, partying, hanging out with your friends, achieving your dreams, traveling to different parts of the world. I know you don't resent me for being born you just weren't prepared for it. You were young and naive so you sometimes would leave me alone at the house with my fathers relatives or leave me with your mother, my grandmother.  I still remember those memories of the nights i spent crying because you weren't there by my side before i go to bed. And every time it would happen my grandmother would cuddle me and make me stop crying and would tell me "Your mom is busy working that's why she cant accompany you to b...

My experience at the WVSU CAT exam

The day that I was going to take an exam at WVSU (West Visayas State of University) final came. On the date April 14, 2024, that was actually my second time taking the exam. The first on march 10, 2024 but due to the cheating issue we had to get a retake of the exam.  And so on the day of the retake I woke up early to get prepared. I wore a black top and baggy pants to avoid the extreme heat of the sun. Around 12:20 in the afternoon I arrived at the gate of the university but before entering i had to print out my examination permit in order to be able able to enter. After printing out my examination permit, I asked a guard about where is the building that is written on the permit. I thanked the guard and went to the location he instructed me to go to.  As I was going there, their were also other people heading to the building so I followed. Upon arriving at the building I asked a staff on which floor the number of the room I was assigned to. The staff told me it was on t...

A better life (Memoir)

I felt my world fall down when I was ten years old. The world I knew shifted. It seemed as though all I had ever known abruptly crumbled. And then everything began to fall apart. For a small child to feel that way seems quite dramatic, yet that's how it was for me at the time. The place i once called home doesn't seem to feel like home anymore. Instead, it's just a house that the ghosts of the past are hunting. Even though I was aware of what was going on, it took some time for it to truly sink in. It resembled a wound that refused to mend. As I look into those contented families' grins, holding hands and living in their own world, I realize that time cannot mend it. I used to think that we were always like that—hand in hand and grinning together—but things have changed. The family I knew was no longer there. Something inside of me had been weakened by their separation. I grew cautious, afraid to show weakness, and afraid that I would get hurt again. My walls grew more...

Dear friend (True Narrative)

It was around January 1, 2022 when i met her. It was on a random afternoon when a message from a person i didnt know popped. Without anything to do at that time, i replied. After replying, we started messaging each other back and forth. Then there i learned she was a girl from India. She was around the same age as me but only a year younger. We share the same birth month and our birthdays were only a few days apart. After finding that out we both were shocked and excited, it was like destiny! The more we talked i found out she also loved to read. Then i shared my favorite authors, books and genres and so did she. from learning little things about each other, our friendship blossomed more.  From then on we would always message each other almost every single day. She would tell me how her day went from school. She would tell me stories about events that happened. She would share her culture and her way of living and life in India. She would share with me her struggles, her past...

An island called Siargao (Travelogue)

Siargao is the place I wish to be able to return to. The island simply had a way of drawing me in. It was dawning when I first spotted the island. The ocean glistened and seemed magnificent as the gorgeous dawn threw its light upon it. After a while we finally arrived at the port. The port of Siargao was crowded with people arriving and departing as we docked. Due to the distance to our accommodation, we hired a tricycle to get us there. The mountainous landscape was breathtaking as we traveled there. It was quiet and serene, with pleasant, chilly air. Finally, after a few more minutes, we have arrived at our hostel. We didn't spend much time relaxing when we got to the hostel because the bus that would take us on a tour wasn't going to be here for long. The bus arrived just as we were finishing our preparations. Taking our seat inside the van the tour guide introduced himself and informed us about our first destination and Maasin River was one of our first stops. Arriving at ...

Summer at Manila (Personal Essay)

I visited Manila when I was younger, maybe around the age of ten. I went during the height of the summer. I was in Manila for the entire summer with my mother. My mom used to work as a call center agent there at the time, so we lived in a flat. The flat had two floors. On the first floor there was a living room, a kitchen, bathroom and a washing area. On the second floor of the flat there are 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. After her shift she would come home and would occasionally buy me my favorite cake, a yema cake. During those 3 months of stay at manila, we would visit malls to browse or make purchases of clothing and other items. Though our trip to Enchanted Kingdom stands out as the most unforgettable. There were numerous rides, games, snacks, and souvenirs available. But during those 3 months of stay, it wasn't always enjoyable. My mom works as a call center agent, so she gets home early in the morning from her job, which begins at night. And as a result, I would typically be le...
