An island called Siargao (Travelogue)

Siargao is the place I wish to be able to return to. The island simply had a way of drawing me in. It was dawning when I first spotted the island. The ocean glistened and seemed magnificent as the gorgeous dawn threw its light upon it. After a while we finally arrived at the port. The port of Siargao was crowded with people arriving and departing as we docked. Due to the distance to our accommodation, we hired a tricycle to get us there. The mountainous landscape was breathtaking as we traveled there. It was quiet and serene, with pleasant, chilly air. Finally, after a few more minutes, we have arrived at our hostel.

We didn't spend much time relaxing when we got to the hostel because the bus that would take us on a tour wasn't going to be here for long. The bus arrived just as we were finishing our preparations. Taking our seat inside the van the tour guide introduced himself and informed us about our first destination and Maasin River was one of our first stops. Arriving at the location down the tiny bridge there was a river. We went down and got near the water. The river's water felt extremely chilly to the touch. The activities there is swimming, diving and kayaking towards the "lagoon" if the island. After a few minutes of waiting it was finally our turn to kayak. Kayaking down the river and into the secret lagoon. I noticed a small pool as soon as we got to the lagoon. It was clearly natural and not human-made because it was constructed of rocks. Inside, the water was crystal clear and significantly colder. we only stayed there for about 10 or 5 minutes and went back. before going to the next destination we went swimming and diving into the river.

After that, we went to Magpopongko Beach, the beach has a similar pool like structure from Maasin river. The small pool-like section beside it had kept it isolated from the sea. we only stayed there for only about 30 minutes before leaving to our final spot. We arrived at a small port that would take us to Sugba lagoon and the trip took about 20 minutes before we had finally arrived. After seeing Sugba lagoon i just knew it was my favorite lagoon out of all the places we went. The lagoon is tucked away between mountains and the water is gorgeous, clean, and refreshing. We stayed there for about an hour. We were swimming and diving. Sugba lagoon also offers kayaking. And because of the serene surroundings and superb water of Sugba Lagoon i just knew this place have to made it my favorite.

We only stayed at the island for 3 days and 2 nights but despite the briefness of our visit, Siargao instantly held a particular place in my heart. I hope to return to Siargao in the future and see more of the various locations the island has to offer.
